Green Heron
| . On Sunday of the Labor Day weekend 2002 I went to Lake Winona in the afternoon. Thinking I would do some fishing, and I always take my camera with me. It was the late summer early fall type of day, warm and low humidity. When I arrived at the lake the water level was down six to eight feet from water usage as it is one of Little Rock's supply reservoir. So the newly uncovered ground was covered with water grass weed very pretty. Some of the grass was still in the water, and full of frogs, fish, snakes, turtles, and all types a little tasty morsels. As I was fishing along the shoreline this Green Heron was very busy eating. I watched him I put my fishing rod down and picked up the camera. He was a very good hunter, his skills included, the fast run, standing still, the long leaned, the strike. He was eating frogs. There are some pictures showing him pulling the frogs out of the water. Being in the canoe is not the idea place to take pictures so some pictures are better than others. . |
